AccessAble Home has new website

AccessAble Home Tax Credit logoThe AccessAble Home Tax Credit program of the Maine State Housing Authority has a new website to promote the program. A new tax credit rule for home modification is the result of legislation passed in the last session of the Maine Legislature and allows a home owner or renter, who makes less than $55,000 per year, to get up to $9,000 (50% to 100% based on sliding scale) in tax credit for home modifications done to make the dwelling accessible for a disabled person who lives there or is going to live there.

The Maine Legislature enacted the AccessAble Home Tax Credit to take effect beginning January 1, 2017 for expenses paid in the 2017 calendar year. The credit is noted on 2017 tax forms filed with Maine Revenue Services in 2018.
