Making PDFs into Accessible Educational Materials

Teachers at all levels make frequent use of digital materials including documents saved in Portable Document Format (PDF). Unfortunately, many of these materials are not Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) and are inaccessible to learners with disabilities.

In this session, we will discuss the importance of making all education materials accessible, how to ensure your PDFs “make the grade,” and various tools and techniques that can be used to help fix and rescue some documents.

AT4Maine – A New Service for Students Needing Assistive Technology

In this presentation, participants will learn more about the new on-line service, how to set up a free account, and how AT devices and equipment may be borrowed by teachers, therapists, students and families. Participants will also learn about how to arrange for a free demonstration of the many AT devices in the inventory. Accessibility and WordPress

The most popular CMS on the planet, WordPress is a good choice for building a website that is accessible to all. That said, developers and content creators need to be aware of some “do’s” and “don’ts” and have a basic understanding about how some people with disabilities use technology. In this presentation, we will discuss the basic elements of accessible web design and identify some essential elements you need to ensure your WP site is accessible.
