Description:  This interactive webinar will cover how to help students with disabilities successfully transition from high school to post-secondary education. Topics that will be covered include differences between K-12 and post-secondary education, support services available, and the role students play in the process of accessing services. Participants will learn strategies for students, parents, and educators to help them evaluate disability services on college campuses and prepare for a successful transition. We will also discuss assistive technology and accessible educational material.

Presenter(s): Sarah Henry, Director of Student Accessibility Services, University of Maine

Sara is the Director of Student Accessibility Services at the University of Maine. She has a deep-rooted passion for cultivating intentional learning and resilience using a strengths-based approach. Sara has worked in higher education for over 30 years in disability services and federal TRIO Student Support Services programs. She is the past president of the Maine Educational Opportunity Association (MEEOA), former secretary of the New England Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD NE), and former vice president of the New England Educational Association (NEOA).


Registration fee: Individual registrations for the webinar are $5.00 per person. There is no fee if you have purchased an agency subscription.

Participants will earn 1 hour of continuing education after completing an online evaluation following the webinar. After completing the webinar you will receive a link to the session evaluation. Once you complete the evaluation, a certification of participation will be emailed to you.
