Program Description

A child learns to communicate using visual symbolsRecorded: May 11, 2022 – Identifying how an individual is currently communicating can help determine how to move forward with communication goals. In this webinar we will discuss the different methods of communication and review a communication assessment tool. The assessment tool can be used with individuals to determine where to begin teaching appropriate communication.

Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the importance of communication access
  • Identify the different methods of communication
  • Utilize a communication assessment tool

Presenter

Jessi Wright – Director of Maine CITE – Jessi Wright is an assistive technology professional (ATP) overseeing Maine CITE, the state assistive technology program in Maine. She has worked in the disability field for over 15 years in various capacities around the country including residential programs, providing autism services, teaching in special education, university disability services, and working closely with vocational rehabilitation.
