Program Description

Recorded: May 23, 2023 – This is our second webinar on adaptive sports and recreation, just in time for summer fun! We will introduce you to many Maine adaptive sports programs, and some information about summer camps. We’ll look at ways anyone can enjoy boating, water sports, fishing, biking, scenic trails and more. This webinar is designed for consumers of all ages and their caregivers, and anyone who is interested.
Objectives:
- Learn about adaptive sports and outdoor recreation programs in and near Maine.
- Learn about camps for Mainers with disabilities.
- Learn about specialized sporting devices and accommodations that enable people with disabilities to have fun outdoors.
Presenter
Melissa Bliss, MS OTR/L – Melissa is an occupational therapist and assistive technology specialist at Maine CITE, the state assistive technology program in Maine. She has worked in a wide variety of educational and clinical settings as an OT, including home health, nursing homes, early intervention, schools, acute care, rehab, and as a program coordinator for an AT lending library and reuse program in Portland. Melissa joined Maine CITE in July, 2022, where she focuses on ensuring that all Maine people have better access to and information about the technologies and adaptive equipment they need to lead full and productive lives.
