Recorded: August 20, 2025 – Accessible digital content means the content is designed in a way that it can be used by a wide range of people. This includes people with disabilities such as learning, physical, and vision limitations. Everyone can get the information they need if it is accessible.

This webinar builds on the information provided in Creating Accessible Documents – The Basics (July 16, 2025). It will present principles for creating accessible digital content in presentations. It will also cover the best practices for using video and audio in presentations. The concepts will be demonstrated using a MacBook Pro.

  • Built-in tools: Participants will learn how to create accessible tables, lists and columns.
  • Alt-Text: Participants will learn about creating alt-text in presentations.
  • Visual presentation: Participants will learn about color contrast tools.
  • Document Navigation: Participants will learn about navigation of digital contents and reading order in presentations. 
  • Video Captioning and Audio Descriptions: Participants will learn about options for hard-of-hearing and blind communities to experience digital media.  

Presenter

Leilani Carlson, Maine CITE Director – Leilani joined the state assistive technology (AT) program, Maine CITE, in July 2022. At Maine CITE, she has focused on assistive technology and access to resources to support Mainers with disabilities live more independently and improve their quality of life. For 10 years prior to joining Maine CITE, she was the Maine AgrAbility Project Coordinator providing education, resource information, and direct assistance to agricultural workers with disabilities or chronic illnesses. Before working in disability services, she worked in the environmental engineering and consulting industry for more than 15 years.
