Program Description

We live in a time when technology enables us to live more independently than our grandparents ever dreamed possible.
But we also live in a time when the risks of using technology are more daunting than ever imagined. Your grandmother had to worry about her Social Security check being stolen from her mailbox. Today, she must worry about her money being stolen by someone halfway around the world, or even being tricked into giving it away herself.
There is so much that technology and AI can do to help us live independent lives, especially those of us living with disabilities.
Join Andy Chandler for a conversation about the promises and perils of 21st-century technology.
Learning Objectives:
- First, a few tips on avoiding cyber fraud. You can do it!
- Next, we will discuss the current state of technology. (Truth be told, your presenter is as bewildered as you are.)
- How can technology help us live independently?
- Is AI a reference librarian, a friend, a lover, or tech that is taking away our future? (Andy votes for “a friend that needs to be restrained.”)
