Program Description
Recorded: September 4, 2024 – Living in Maine, we recognize the importance of having the ability to drive as it increases independence and gives people more freedom. For people with disabilities of all ages (adolescents, adults and seniors) driving can present many challenges.
In this webinar participants learn about the importance of driving for a person with a disability, the adaptive driving evaluation process, adaptive/assistive technology options, and information on installation and funding.

Presenters
Ketra S. Crosson, OTR/L – Ketra is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and is a licensed Occupational Therapist with over 35 years of experience in developing and providing independent living options for people with disabilities. She provides such services as access design consultation, independent living skills assessment and training, assistive technology consultation, job accommodation assessments, adaptive driver evaluation, and on-farm assessments with farmers with disabilities.
Heather Shields OTR/L, CDRS – Heather is the owner of Pathways Rehabilitation Services in Maine. She has been an occupational therapist since 1997 and is the only certified driving rehabilitation specialist in Maine. Heather provides mobile driving rehab service, assisting people to return to driving following a medical event. She specializes in working with people with all medical conditions, seniors and young adults with special needs.
